Pel and the Pelicans is a group of very talented musicians and good friends led by guitarist, songwriter, bandleader Pelham Houchin. Pel and the Pelicans line up has some of the Bay Area’s finest players, some of which go back many years. Lead Guitar Pel, sets the stage for the band. Drummer Paul Newman he met in 2000 and played together in The Big Earl Blues Band. Keyboard player Bill Barton came onboard in 2016. Saxophone player John Lull was the bandleader of the South City Blues Band for many years before hooking up with Pel’s Pelicans. Vinney Fornesi is a legendary player in the bay area. Pel and the Pelicans masterfully integrate songs with orchestrated instrumental focuses. It’s a musical experience like no other.
Meet Pel
Songwriter, guitarist, producer, bassist, arranger, vocalist, recording engineer and bandleader Pelham Houchin has been called a renaissance man and an inspiration to others. Being a dedicated lifelong musician, it was hard for Pel to deal with the fact that he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. That was in 2009. His perseverance and passion for writing, recording and performing has kept him very much an active viable musical contributor. “I try to maintain a positive attitude and I’ll continue making music for as long as I can. It's in me. It's who I am. It's what I do"
